BAU: Datuk Henry Harry Jinep is intensifying efforts to attract tourists from China in order to enhance the tourism sector in Bau.

Recognising the potential of the Chinese market, the Tasik Biru assemblyman recently organised a visit to showcase the district’s unique cultural offerings and rich history to Xing Wei Ping, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China.

Jinep stated that the visit served as a platform to promote Bau as a potential tourist destination for Chinese citizens.

“The purpose of this visit was to introduce the district of Bau to the world and highlight its unique culture and over 200 years of historical heritage,” he said during a press conference on Thursday (July 6).

“After the visit, Xing expressed satisfaction and admiration for the way Bau’s culture was portrayed during the visit. We hope Xing will assist in promoting Bau as a tourist spot to his compatriots.”

Meanwhile, Xing stated that if Sarawak continues to strengthen its promotional efforts in China, the tourist attractions in the region will undoubtedly appeal to Chinese tourists.

“Sarawak has abundant resources for its tourism industry, and the tourism spots here can be a selling point for Chinese tourists in the future. Additionally, we see potential collaboration opportunities in Sarawak in terms of local products, education, and trading,” he added.

The visit began with breakfast at Good Luck Cafe in Old Bau and continued with visits to various sites, including the Twelve Kongsi flagpole holder at Maw San, SJKC Chung Hua Taiton, Tasik Biru, Golden Hill Temple, Paku Rock Maze Garden, and the Lung Hua Kong Musi Temple.

The day concluded with lunch at Jinep’s residence, which was also attended by Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang.
