KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has announced that tattoo parlours will be allowed to operate starting Monday (Sept 21) in accordance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) prepared by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing.
In a statement today, SDMC said that no new positive Covid-19 cases were detected in Sarawak on Saturday, with the total number of cases in the state remaining at 701.
“No new cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. With this, the total number of recovered and discharged cases remains at 680 or 97 percent,” they said.
They reported that two cases were still being treated at hospital isolations wards — one at Sibu Hospital and the other at Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor.
“No cases are receiving treatment at intensive care units (ICU). There is one case reported in Sandakan, Sabah which is being treated at Bintulu Hospital,” they said.
As of Saturday, only one Covid-19 cluster was still active in the state, namely the Alam Cluster in Bintulu with eight cases — all of which have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
The committee said that 14 new persons-under-investigation (PUI) were reported and one PUI was awaiting laboratory results.
They also said that ten persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were checked into hotels on Saturday to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 11 hotels to 574, while 24,177 PUS had completed their quarantine period.
On SOP compliance, SDMC said that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) issued 27 compound notices — 25 in Kuching and one each in Betong and Sarikei.
The Ministry of Local Government on the other hand issued 139 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.
Under Ops Benteng, SDMC said that on Saturday, a total of 1,888 vehicles were inspected at six roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
