IPOH: A teacher’s dream holiday turned into a nightmare after she was thrown off her horse and bitten by another while vacationing with a friend in Songkla, Thailand on Nov 6.

Nur Aini Ruslan, 29, said she was riding a horse, which was accompanied by its handler, at Samila Beach, Songkla when they were “attacked” by another horse.

“Suddenly another horse knocked me down. That was when I was bitten in the back and knocked to the ground several times.

“Although the incident lasted about two minutes, I felt like I was going to die,” she told reporters at a private hospital here yesterday.

Nur Aini, who teachers English and Science at Sekolah Kebangsaan Convent Sentul 1, Kuala Lumpur, said she was rushed to Songkla Hospital for treatment before undergoing surgery in Malaysia.

“Once we arrived in Malaysia, I was admitted to a private hospital here and underwent surgery on Nov 9 to remove a blood clot from my back and clean the wounds on my waist,” said Nur Aini, who had booked a four-day stay in Songkla from Nov 4.

She did not rule out the possibility of suing the owners of the horse which attacked her.

She advised those planning to go on a holiday, especially overseas, to ensure they make sufficient preparations, including buying insurance.

“If there’s anything I’ve learned from this incident is that everyone must buy insurance before travelling because accidents can happen anytime,” she said. – Bernama
