SARAWAK GENERAL HOSPITAL UPGRADES

KUCHING: Upgrading works on the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here are progressing smoothly and expected to complete in Feb next year.

The project’s contractor Asaljuru Weida Sdn Bhd (AWSB), said it would start a series of external works in ensuring the project would be completed as scheduled.

The works would, however, affect the current access at Gate B & C of SGH.

In view of this, there would be periodic closures of these gates.

The first closure would affect Gate C (Ambulance & Emergency Lane) from 8pm on Feb 15 to 6am on Feb 16. The second closure would be from 8pm on Feb 29 to 6am on March 1, AWSB said in a statement yesterday.

“During these closure period, all ambulances and emergency access will be diverted to a temporary emergency access, located in front of the state Health Department building and can be accessed through Gate B, as indicated in the appended map. Traffic wardens and security guards will be on standby to guide traffic,” it added.

AWSB said the general public is reminded that ambulance and emergency lane is strictly and exclusively dedicated for ambulances and emergencies only.

Patients and visitors are to be dropped off at Lobby A and B, which can be accessed through Gate A, B and E.
