Three dilapidated Betong schools for upgrade

BETONG: Three national primary schools which were categorised as dilapidated in the Betong Division will be upgraded quickly and allocations had been included in Budget 2020.

Works Minster Baru Bian said the tenders for the implementation of the special projects at the three schools, namely, SK Tambak, SK Tui and SK Suri would be issued as quickly as possible.

However, he could not divulge the date the tenders would be issued, when the upgrading works would begin and the overall costs.

“I cannot tell you the actual date but what is definite is that this special project will be implemented quickly,” he told reporters after launching the Debak ‘Jaya Desa’ programme at the SJKC Chung Hua Hall today.

He hoped the people of Sarawak would see education as a stepping stone in improving their lives and boosting skills and expertise as suggested under the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 launched by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

A total 17 agencies from federal government agencies took part in the exhibition in conjunction with the programme. Also inserted was a discussion programme with representatives from Council of Trust for the People (MARA), Integrated Agriculture Development Zone (IADA), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and Ministry of Rural Development (MRD). – Bernama
