SARIKEI: Three individuals of various foreign nationalities were apprehended by the Immigration Enforcement Unit (UPI) here during an operation in Pakan.

The operation yesterday (Mar 29) aimed at identifying and apprehending migrants lacking valid documentation.

Acting on public tip-offs and weeks of intelligence gathering, three hotspots with illegal foreigners involving logging camps and oil palm plantations in Pakan were inspected.

“A total of 16 individuals were inspected, and three individuals were detained through these operations.

“They will be charged under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for various offences, including overstaying and not possessing valid travel documents,” said a statement today.

The department urged members of the public with relevant information to come forward to the nearest immigration office to channel related information or through existing online complaint channels.
