KUCHING: Three more venues have been identified as quarantine centres here in the capital city, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Uggah who is also the State Disaster Management Committee chairman said the identified venues are Institut Kemajuan Desa, Institut Tadbiran Awam Negara Sarawak (Intan) and Tun Abdul Razak Campus Teacher’s Training College.

Uggah said the Institut Kemajuan Desa would be ready in three day’s time. Whereas, the first designated venue here was the Public Health College.

Uggah said this after visiting the quarantine centres and was accompanied by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Deputy State Secretary Datu Ik Pahon.

He visited the institute yesterday to check on its suitability and facilities.

“We need them in the event we have spilt over from Sarawak General Hospital and the Sarawak Public Health College.

“At the same time I would like to assure the people in their vicinity that we only send PUI cases there, not the positive ones.”
