KUCHING: The State Health Department has declared three new Covid-19 clusters — one each in the districts of Bau, Bintulu and Kuching respectively.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) stated that the Jalan Jambusan-Sunchar Cluster in Bau district is a community cluster involving four families from four different localities namely Taman Mutiara, Kampung Melayu Baru, Taman Mawar and Kampung Masjid Bau.

The committee said the infection was spread through social movement and visiting activities during the previous Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

“A total of 243 individuals have been screened in which 18 including the case index are positive, 60 negative and 165 are awaiting laboratory results.

“All of the Covid-19 positive cases have been referred to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Bau Hospital as well as admitted into the low-risk quarantine centres (PKRCs) in Kuching and Bau,” SDMC said in a statement yesterday (May 31).

The Jalan Coastal Bintulu-Miri Cluster in Bintulu is a workplace cluster involving an accommodation hostel for staff and workers of a smelter factory at Jalan Coastal Bintulu-Miri, Similajau.
