Three SK Jaong teachers’ quarters perish in fire

SRI AMAN: Three blocks of teachers’ quarters of SK Jaong were completely destroyed in an inferno at Kampung Jaong, Sri Aman last night (Nov 17).

State Bomba operations centre stated that two distress calls about the incident were received around 7.30pm.

A team of firefighters from Sri Aman fire station was immediately despatched to the fire scene.

The location of the school was located 74 kilometres from the station and it took more than one hour to reach the destination.

Upon arrival, it was found out that one block of the teachers’ quarters housing five residential units was engulfed in flames.

“The fire started at one of the three blocks before it spread fast to the other two blocks which serve as the residential quarters with two doors or units each.

“All three blocks were completely destroyed. Nevertheless the eight occupants were safe and not injured,” the statement from Bomba said.

The operation ended around 10.10pm.
