SAMARAHAN: Five business owners here share their thoughts on how ‘Jum Regista Business Sarawakku Sayang’ programme at Dewan IAT, Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA) Samarahan has benefited them.

I joined the ‘Jum Regista Business’ programme looking forward to learn and gain some knowledge, especially in terms of business registration under the district office. This will enable us to conduct our businesses legally with licences or permit while being able to receive the grant assistance offered by the government.

Norsheilla Suip, 30, F&B owner

I found out about this programme through a friend’s sharing on Facebook which piqued my interest to join. It is very beneficial for traders like us to easily obtain a licence or a permit because without this programme, the process for a licence application may be a little difficult as we do not know the proper steps to do it.

I have a business in Kabong which mainly offers ‘cendol gula apong’. By receiving the grant under the ‘Graduate Towards Entrepreneurship’ (GERAK) Programme (Program Graduan ke arah Keusahawanan) amounting to RM 5,000, I will use it to buy a ‘cendol’ making machine which will help me to produce more ‘cendol’ and expand the market including in Kuching.

I received a grant of RM 10,000 under the GERAK programme and it is very helpful to run a company, whether it be film production, event management, performing arts and creative industry. Thank God that this creative industry is gaining support and we will also focus on marketing activities and more.

Our business is called “Puff Lab”. Basically, we are selling Japanese Cream Puffs in Samarahan and Kuching. We received a grant of RM 10,000 whereby half of the amount is for asset and another half is for the capital. We will use this to upgrade our oven as the oven that we have at the moment is pretty small. We will also use the capital to pay the salary of the staff and operating expenses if and when there is a need to. So far, there are 16 of us in this business. 13 of them are staffs, who are also students as well, while the other three are partners.
