KUCHING: A trader pleaded guilty to possessing 500 litres of diesel oil under suspicious circumstances in October last year.

Firdaus Khan Safawi, 34, was fined RM10,000 by Sessions Court Judge Musli Abdul Hamid here today (April 2).

Musli also ordered a six-month jail term if Firdaus failed to pay the fine and the van used in the case confiscated, with proceeds from its sale going to the government.

Firdaus was found having 500 litres of diesel oil, a scheduled controlled item, under circumstances that aroused suspicion of an offence under Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974, namely dealing with diesel oil retail or wholesale without a licence.

The offence occurred on October 11, 2023, at 8.40 pm, at a gas station in Siburan, Kuching-Serian Road.
