THE APM workers show the rescued monitor lizard

MIRI: A one-metre long monitor lizard was rescued after it was found stuck inside a rubbish trap of a fuel station in Luak Bay today.

According to Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Miri, the creature wandered inside the drain near the fuel station searching for food when it got stuck inside the rubbish trap.
One of fuel station worker who happened to pass by the drain, spotted the animal and immediately called up APM Miri for assistance.

Five APM personnel were despatched to the scene upon receiving a distressed call on the discovery at 11. 08 am.

Rescuers managed to retrieve the animal in less than 10 minutes and released it into the wild.
