Trio arrested on suspicion of gang robbery in Sibu

SIBU: Police here arrested three people, including a woman, to facilitate investigations into a gang robbery, on Monday (Feb 13).

Sibu OCPD ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said they received a report around 6.20pm from a 44-year-old man claiming that he was robbed of his belongings by two unidentified men.

The incident happened in Jalan Market and the victim suffered losses amounting to RM1,500.

“Following the report, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) set up to track down the suspects.

“Three suspects — two men aged 24 and 38 as well as a 37-year-old woman — were arrested at the Sibu wharf terminal around 9.30pm.

“Also seized were the items belonging to the victim,” ACP Zulkipli said.

Background checks found that the suspects had several priors.

The suspects will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
