Trio remanded for drug possession

MUKAH: Two men and a woman are being remanded for possessing drug believed to be Syabu weighting 24.41 gram with an estimated value of RM3,000.

The trio was nabbed following a raid conducted by the local police at a house in Taman Indah, Jalan Wawasan here last Saturday.

According to Mukah District Police chief, DSP Jimmy Ak Panyau, the trio are being remanded until 17 May.

“The raid was conducted by a police team from Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD Mukah) Narcotic Crime Investigation Division led by Inspector Mohd Shahrezan Abdul Razak.

“It was the biggest drug seizure this year for the district and the three suspects are being remanded to assist us in our investigation,” he said.

In a press statement released last Monday evening DSP Jimmy added that the case is being investigated under Section 39A(1)  of the Dangerous Drug Act, 1952.

DSP Jimmy also disclosed that since last January, a total of 96 cases have been investigated and of the number, 91 cases related to drugs have been brought to court.

“I would like to take this opportunity to assure that the police would give their best service for the community, especially drug-related cases.

“Hence, we hope members of the public would work closely with us by channeling information, particularly on drug abuse and possession.

“We really appreciate and thank the caring community for coming up with the much needed information in our all out effort to fight this drug menace,” he said.
