MIRI: Failure to notify the authorities on the change of skipper resulted in a tugboat being detained by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) at 3.3 nautical miles southwest of Kuala Baram.

MMEA Miri director Captain Mohd Shafie Paing said the tugboat was detained during a routine patrol.

The vwssel was manned by a local skipper and an Indonesian crew member.

Mohd Shafie said the boat was seized and the two crewmen were taken to Shin Yang jetty for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance (MSO) 1952/60 for suspected failure to report port officials of the change in captain.
