MIRI: It was a busy Monday night for rescuers of Miri Civil Defence force (APM) as they caught two venomous snakes – cobra (s) from two houses here.

They first received a callout from a 27 year-old man from Kampung Lereng Bukit about a one metre long cobra spotted slithering on the floor of his kitchen while setting up a mouse trap.

Four APM personnel were sent to the house after receiving the call at 11.15 pm, and they successfully secured the house in less than five minutes.

Three hours later, the team rushed to a house in Jalan Desa Seri after a 37 year-old woman saw a cobra, measuring at one metre in length hiding near one of her flower pots at the car porch area.

“I noticed the snake’s presence, when my dog kept on barking.  The alarming non-stop barking saved our family,” said the house owner who wished to be anonymous.

The snake was also removed safely from the house by the team.
