Rescuers extricate the victims out of the vehicle.

KUCHING: Two men were killed after a cement mixer truck they were traveling in crashed into the highway divider at the Sri Aman flyover today.

The vehicle was heading towards Betong.

A spokesman for the State Fire and Rescue Operations Centre in a statement identified the deceased as the cement mixer truck driver, Darwin Dingin, 42 and his attendant Belon Sungkong, 46.

Firefighters from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station were despatched to the scene after they were alerted to the incident at about 9.14am.

‘Upon arrival, they found two persons trapped in the cement mixer truck that had crashed into a highway divider,” the spokesman said.

The firefighters successfully extricated the victims from the damaged truck with the assistance of an excavator.

Both victims were pronounced dead by medical officers at the scene.

Their bodies were handed over to the police for further action.
