Two female students arrested for assaulting 12-year-old girl in Asajaya

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Two female students have been arrested for allegedly assaulting another female student in Asajaya. The incident gained attention after a video of the fight went viral on Facebook.
The video, lasting 1.34 minutes, depicted a 12-year-old girl being assaulted by two other girls in a village area.
Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Brodie Brangka confirmed that they received a police report from the victim’s mother at around 10.33pm on Oct 14.
He added that they had detected the viral post uploaded by RedParrot on Monday (Oct 16).
Acting on this information, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division arrested the two girls, aged 13 and 16.
“An investigation paper has been opened under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which deals with intentionally causing injury, and Section 506 of the Penal Code, which pertains to criminal intimidation.
“If convicted under Section 323, the offenders could face up to one year in prison, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both. Section 506 provides for a maximum imprisonment term of up to two years, a fine, or both, upon conviction,” he explained.
DSP Brodie noted that the investigation papers will be referred to the state prosecution office for further instructions.
He also advised the public not to make speculations or comments on social media that could disrupt ongoing investigations.
