The lorry that plunged into a 20-feet ravine

BINTULU: A lorry driver and his attendant were injured after their vehicle laden with electronic items lost control and plunged into a 20-feet ravine in Setiam, Jalan Bintulu-Tatau at around 12 am, yesterday.

A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) operations centre received an emergency call at 12.21 am.

“Seven firefighters from Tatau fire station were promptly despatched to the scene.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the firefighters began the operation by carrying the two victims out from the 20-feet ravine with a stretcher,” the department said in a statement.

The lorry attendant sustained severe injuries on his left shoulder while the driver only experienced minor injuries.

Both the victims were sent to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The operation ended at 1.10 am
