MIRI: Two men who were suspected to be involved in robbing an 81-year-old woman at Jalan High Street here on Jan 3 have been arrested.

“Currently, we are tracking down another two suspects believed to be involved in the case,” Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said.

The two suspects nabbed were both in their 30s.

According to Lim, the duo was picked up from a budget hotel at Jalan Bendahara around 3pm on Friday.

Unfortunately, the four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle that they stole during the robbery has been sold.

On Jan 3, around 2.30pm, the 81-year-old woman had the shock of her life when a stranger entered the vehicle she was in and just drove off.

During the incident, the woman claimed that the stranger punched and threatened to kill her before dropping her off at Jalan Bendahara.

The stranger also took away her valuables.

Prior to the incident, the victim was waiting for her 48-year-old daughter inside the 4WD vehicle with the engine running and doors unlocked.
