SRI AMAN: Assistant Minister for Rural Economy and Plantation, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has classified two Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) in this district as ‘critical’.

According to him, the two ‘critical’ projects are the construction of a concrete bridge at Temiang, Batu Lintang costing RM750,000 and a multi-purpose hall at SK Nanga Klassen costing RM500,000.

“Both projects are implemented under Simanggang RTP. However, both are classified as ‘critical’ because the projects will be completed later than scheduled.

“Due to the delay, I am very disappointed with the contractor responsible for not completing the projects on scheduled,” Harden said after inspecting the two projects.

He believed that the problems arose because the contractor who obtained the contracts through the balloting process has no expertise in the construction of such projects.

“Hence, I have asked the agencies involved to go to the ground and to monitor the projects and continue to ensure that the contractor completes the projects as stipulated in the respective contracts,” he pointed out.
