SIBU: The appointment of Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar as the eighth Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri will benefit Sarawak’s rights in terms of the Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said Wan Junaidi’s position allows him to provide valuable advice on aspects of MA63.

“His extensive knowledge about MA63 is advantageous for Sarawak as he can aid us in advocating for our rights under the agreement,” he said when met by reporters after attending the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Chinese New Year (CNY) gathering here on Saturday (Jan 27).

He also said Wan Junaidi’s broad experience in administration made him a well-respected figure who is worthy of the position.

“I extend my congratulations to His Excellency Tun (Wan Junaidi) on his appointment as the new TYT. I am confident that the people of Sarawak, including the Bidayuh community, will warmly welcome him.

“He brings with him a wealth of political and legislative experience, making him one of the exceptional leaders we aim to have as our TYT.
