KUCHING: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) paid a courtesy visit to its chairman Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is also Head of State, at his residence in Demak Jaya yesterday (Sept 28).

During the one-hour meeting, Taib was briefed on the latest development of YPS’ programmes and activities, including the successful implementation of its recently concluded webinar series on Advancing Racial Cohesion and Harmony (ARCH), held from July to September.

YPS deputy chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri George Chan Hong Nam also presented YPS’ newly published coffee table book ‘Your Story, Our Pride — Selected Short Stories of Unity for the People of Sarawak’ to Taib.

The book is a collection of a selected 400 out of 1,118 short stories written by the public, mostly Sarawakians, for the Sarawak Pride’s Project.

The stories provide a glimpse into the warm relationships and bonds that have been formed among Sarawak’s communities.

The coffee book was conceptualised as a commemoration of the Sarawak Pride’s Project achieving a national record of having the ‘Most Number of ‘Unity’ Short Stories’ in the Malaysia Book of Records.

Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak was founded in May 1994 as a non-profit organisation with the mission to promote and advance programmes and activities that will preserve, enhance, and strengthen the unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence of the various multi-ethnic communities in Sarawak.
