KOTA SAMARAHAN: Some 600 staff and students of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak here attended a breaking-of-fast with the Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at Surau Al-Ghazali, here on Wednesday.
The ceremony started with the breaking-of-fast after which Taib joined the staff and students for Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers.
At the ceremony, 128 orphans from UiTM Sarawak and a single mother received donations from Taib.
Earlier on the Head of State officially declared open the Nusantara Islamic Gallery at the Tun Abdul Razak Library.
The gallery houses artifacts of Wali Songo made by UiTM Sarawak researchers led by the rector Prof Datuk Dr Jamil Hamali.
Research activities on Wali Songo started in April 2014 and are still on-going.
Also present was Taib’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib.
