KUCHING: The Sarawak government will work together with the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) in the Prime Minister’s Department to make sure that projects in the state are implemented smoothly.

This was among the matters discussed between ICU director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz at a meeting with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday.

“In the meeting, the Premier also stated several things that need to be focused on by the federal government, especially in helping the Sarawak government to implement projects with a value of RM50 million and below.

“So, our team will monitor so that the project does not fall behind schedule or become a ‘sick project’.

“This is very important because the success of a project completed within the specified period will provide comfort and also benefit the people,” he said.

He had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Premier at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.

On another note, Wan Ahmad said that the issue of national borders needed closer cooperation so that the development of the country would be in line with the new capital of Indonesia, Nusantara.

“The Premier also raised related issues so that we can build closer cooperation between the federal and state governments, especially in looking at our country’s borders with the construction of control posts and also related to the Immigration Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex,” he said.

Wan Ahmad assumed the post of ICU director-general on Feb 20 replacing Datuk Ruji Ubi. He was previously the secretary-general of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
