SIBU: ‘The Art of Sape’ (TAOS) is back for its third edition at Sibu Heritage Centre (SHC), Jalan Wong Nai Siong-Jalan Central.

Organised by Kelab Sape Dayak Sibu (KSDS), this year’s event themed ‘With Sape, We Unite’ would run from 9am to 5pm on Dec 21.

According to KSDS chairman, Anthony Abong, a series of events and activities had been lined up to add colour to the event.

There would also be an exhibition, featuring all types of ‘sape’, ranging from the traditional to modern designs.

He told a press conference that those who had never had the chance to pluck or even hold the ‘sape’, would also have the rare opportunity at the event.

The event is organised in collaboration with Borneo Events Entertainment (BEE) and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB).

Abong said other activities lined up for the event would include tattoo exhibition and demonstration and sales of local handicraft.

In light of the approaching Christmas, the organiser had also decided to hold a mini concert from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

The concert would also showcase traditional dance like ‘ngajat’, sape performance, ‘kuntau’ (a type of martial art) demonstration, and a live band performance.
