KUCHING: The Demak Laut Friendly Neighbourhood (KJM) Carnival, a vibrant community event, successfully brought together residents through a series of engaging activities, fostering stronger community bonds.

Demak Laut assemblyman Datuk Dr Hazland Abg Hipni highlighted the importance of such events in building unity.

“These gatherings are crucial for the effective execution of government initiatives, particularly in the Demak Laut area,” he said at the closing ceremony at the Sepakat Jaya Multipurpose Hall on Sunday.

During the carnival, locals enjoyed a variety of events including ‘sepak takraw’, carrom, cooking, and pop song contests, as well as a children’s fashion show, workshops, and entrepreneurial competitions featuring Canva and Shopee apps.

“The carnival is more than just fun; it’s about establishing friendships and offering beneficial activities, especially for the Demak Laut community,” he added.

The carnival’s success was further boosted by the inclusion of popular e-sports like Mobile Legend, which attracted many young participants. Dr. Hazland noted the positive influence of such events in deterring youth from engaging in non-productive activities.
