Unity event draws good public response

KUCHING: The Semarak Uniti Keluarga Malaysia programme which took place at the State Library was well received by people here.

It was organised by the Ministry of National Unity and officiated by Women, Early Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

People who turned up for the programme donned red, white, dark blue and yellow shirts in keeping to the colours of the Malaysian flag.

There were various activities among them being the Uniti Keluarga Malaysia exercise, installation of ‘jalur gemilang’ on vehicles, rakyat games, Uniti Tabika Perpaduan Semarak colouring competition, and many more.

The programme started around 7.30am with a light exercise activity which was enlivened by the waving of the Malaysian flag by all those present to ignite their spirit of patriotism.

The exercise ended with Sarawakians’ favourite dance which is poco poco before continuing with the main event – the Teguh Bersama: Unity Fun Run 2022.

At exactly 7.45 am, Fatimah flagged off the event which was participated by 500 Rukun Tetangga Kuching Division members.

Following that, the programme continued with the symbolic installation of ‘jalur gemilang’ on the cars.

The programme was held simultaneously across the country in line with the opening of the national-level Semarak Uniti Keluarga Malaysia Carnival in Kuala Lumpur.
