KUCHING: Vaccinating over two million Sarawakians is one of the biggest challenges for the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) as the target is to complete the programme by the end of this coming August.

“We want to vaccinate the people as fast as possible, and the realistic target is to get it done by the end of Aug,” said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas in a press conference on his daily Covid-19 update at the Old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Building today.

However, this target can only be achieved if the state has enough vaccine.

“Sarawak is huge, which is why there must be proper and careful planning so that those living far (in the rural and interior areas) will be able to receive the vaccine as well,” he said.

He said that as of March 17, a total of 1,223,080 individuals throughout Sarawak have registered for vaccination.
