KUALA LUMPUR: Manchester City will be hot favourites to dominate the Premier League again, with the new 2023/2024 season slated to kick off this Friday.

Former Arsenal player, Giovanni van Bronckhorst believed that Pep Guardiola’s side are getting more stronger than ever and have what it takes to defend their title for the fourth consecutive time since the 2020/2021 season.

“They (Manchester City) are favourite (to win the Premier League 2023/2024)…they have the best coach in the world and the whole team look so comfortable (under Guardiola),” he told reporters when met at an event hosted by local pay-television company (Astro), here, last night.

On Arsenal’s chances in the upcoming season, the former midfielder said ‘The Gunners’ will once again be a strong contender for the Premier League title after finishing second behind Manchester City last season.

The 48-year-old Dutchman said Arsenal will definitely learn from their mistakes after a disappointing end last season which saw them lead the table for 248 days before they lost the title to ‘The Citizens’.

In the meantime, the former Rangers and Feyenoord manager has tipped Liverpool, Chelsea or Newcastle United to occupy the top four which guarantees the European elite club competition UEFA Champions League automatic spots.

Last night, Arsenal were handed a major boost towards their new Premier League campaign when they won the Community Shield by beating Manchester City 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time at Wembley Stadium, London. – BERNAMA
