MIRI: A medical team from Beluru Health Clinic was at Rumah Ramba Sungai Liam Bekenu, Miri-Bintulu road, on an emergency mission to help victims of Tuesday’s violent storm that tore their homes apart.

The team arrived late on the same day of the storm and remained there till yesterday to give medical aid and care to 241 folk who were temporarily housed at SK Sg Liam, Bakong.

The team detected six cases of diarrhoea, conjunctivitis as well as hand, food and mouth (HFM) disease and one isolated case of a non-communicable disease (NCD).

One other case was that of a victim who sustained laceration in the rush for safety from the raging wind and rain.

Besides the medical team, several representatives of government agencies also visited the victims, including Marudi assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil’s personal assistant Edward Mendal.
