Village futsal hall now a reality

SERIAN: The Kampung Mara-u Futsal Hall here has finally been completed at a total cost of RM350,000.

The opening of the hall was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities, and Regional Development of Sarawak, Datuk Martin Ben, on Saturday (Nov 25).

In his speech, Martin congratulated the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK), its Women’s Bureau, and its Youth for successfully organising the event.

“The high level of cooperation among all age groups within the JKKK and the residents of Kampung Mara-u should be praised and emulated by other villages, and such a spirit should be sown and practiced,” he said.

Among the other programmes held were the presentation of appointment certificates for the JKKK of Kampung Mantung Mara-u and the relaunch of its Women’s Bureau, previously known as Biro Kaum Ibu Kampung Mantung Mara-u.

Additionally, an event featuring the cutting of a cake as a gesture of gratitude for the Datukship awarded to Datuk Martin and a contribution of Ziarah Kasih to five elderly residents and Persons with Disabilities (OKU) from the village were also held.

Martin also announced allocations for the year 2023, with JKKK and the Youth Association of Kampung Mantung Mara-u receiving RM5,000 each, while the Women’s Bureau of Kampung Mara-u will receive RM10,000.

For the year 2024, he will allocate RM5,000 each to 24 JKKKs and RM5,000 each to 17 Women’s Bureaus in the Kedup area.

Present at the event was a representative from the Serian Resident’s Office, Wee Chung Yee and a representative from the Serian District Office.
