MUKAH: Parents are urged to stop the negative habit of exposing or viralling any matter they are unhappy about in the social media.

The call was made by chairman of SK St Patrick Parent-Teacher Association, Zainal Laily yesterday.  He pointed out that they should come forward and discuss the issue first as it affects individuals and the association.

“This unhealthy habit of exposing or viralling whatever problem faced by their children with the school authority especially the teachers in the social media like Facebook or whatever form of public exposure should not be done by the parents because at the end of the day if they were wrong, it also exposed their own folly.

“They should instead go to the school and check the authenticity of the issue and try to discuss it with the teacher or school staff concerned,” Zainal said.

He also said that by doing so the person is indirectly punishing the teacher or staff concerned without justification.

He stated this when officiating at the 32nd SK St Patrick Mukah and 12th Pre-School Excellence Award 2018 at Dewan Suarah Mesra here.

Hence, he called upon the parents and community at large to work closely with the teachers to provide the best education for the children.

“Good results come with a price. It is sad to note that some parents are unwilling to sacrifice their time for activities held in the school to benefit their children although they wanted their children to excel in their studies,” he added.

The school headmaster Lawrence Ajim in his welcoming speech thanked the three people’s representatives in the area for their support and assistance to the school.

“I would also like to thank the teachers, the staffers and parents for the cooperation given to us and of course the Mukah Education Office for their assistance and support  to this school all this while. We also thank our two religious teachers who will be transferred to Peninsular Malaysia,” he said.
