KUALA LUMPUR: The Visit Sarawak Campaign (VSC) is promoting five key themes of the state, namely Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festivals (CANFF).

The World Tourism Conference (WTC) 2019 welcoming dinner, hosted by the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and held at The Majestic Hotel here on Monday, was palpably infused with these elements in line with the Sarawak  — More to Discover campaign theme.

“This is one of the reasons we feel privileged to host tonight’s dinner because you will see for  yourself a glimpse (of Sarawak’s  CANFF) from the wonderful cultural performances and delicacies we are having,” remarked Sarawak Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah (pic).

“We aim to make VSC a sustainable strategic initiative in uplifting the image of Sarawak’s tourism to the attention of the rest of the world, be it for business, leisure travel or even for simply family vacations,”  he said in his speech.

VSC was launched at the end of last year, and he felt that it would receive favourable impacts from the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2020 campaign.

Abdul Karim pointed out that the hosting of this year’s  WTC by Kuala Lumpur augured well for Visit Malaysia Year 2020.

He believed that the tourism campaign would certainly boost relevant initiatives while enticing more visitors to various states of Malaysia.

He commended the welcome dinner for providing an excellent opportunity for establishing networks with
international and local tourism industry players. “We look forward to sharing our experiences as well as keeping up with the latest trends and developments in the industry,” he said.

Abdul Karim also expressed his hope that future engagements with delegates could be held in Kuching in order for them to experience first-hand the known “Sarawak  hospitality”.

WTC 2019 was organised by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.
