KUCHING: Water issues in the Kanowit district are now a thing of the past. The Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) in a statement said that in an investigation conducted on August 30, it discovered that there was a blockage in a filter tank at the Kanowit Water Treatment Plant, which disrupted the flow of water supply.
During the disruption period, JBALB Sibu has been sending clean water to their consumers using lorry tankers since August 2.
The filter tank has been cleaned and has been fully functioning since 5pm on Thursday.
Water supply is expected to be restored in stages and the delivery of clean water will continue until the water supply in the affected areas is fully restored.
“JBALB Sarawak appreciates consumers’ patience as we are doing our very best to resolve the technical problems,” said the statement.
It said that any latest progress will be posted in the department’s official Facebook and any inquiries or reports can be forwarded to the JBALB Sibu Division office at 084-259100.
