KUCHING: Sarawak is surging ahead both in political stability and economic improvement, according to political observer Datuk Peter Minos.

He attributed the state’s progress to the formation of Gabungan Parti Sarawak in 2018, led by coalition kingpin Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), which made a formidable force in national politics.

“Since being led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,  who has vision and dream as well as pragmatic plans and ways of implementation, Sarawak now has a solid economic foundation that works effectively.

“Sarawak assured of a bright and shining economic future for Sarawak, GPS will continue to defend and promote the state’s legitimate rights and powers as clearly stated in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said in a statement today.

Minos said GPS will work and cooperate with the federal government for the benefit of the country without being excessively controlled by the feds and Malaya as in the past.

“It is in fact the sincere wish of Sarawak to do things and lead their lives in their own ways, but remain friendly with Putrajaya.

“GPS is merely doing its best to enhance Sarawak’s wish, even if right now the politics in Peninsular Malaysia are even messier and troubled to a certain extent,” he added.
