Whacked for forgetting their textbooks

MIRI: Two primary school pupils forgot to bring their Mathematics textbooks, and for this indiscretion, they claimed they were hit and slapped by the teacher.

A police report was lodged by one of the pupils at the Lutong police station soon after.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed receiving the report when contacted yesterday.

Police are investigating the incident under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

“No arrest has been made so far as investigations are ongoing,” ACP Lim said.

The incident allegedly took place at a primary school in Tudan on Monday.

On the day of the incident, the two pupils, aged 11, had forgotten to bring their Mathematics textbooks.

Irate, the teacher allegedly hit the two pupils.

Upon returning from school, one of the pupils told his father about the incident, which led to the report being filed.
