KUCHING: Amid discussions about enhancing road safety and promoting responsible driving habits, Hulu Terengganu MP Rosol Wahid has put forward a thoughtful proposal when debating the Budget 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat.

He suggests providing tax and driver’s licence renewal discounts to individuals who maintain a clean driving record, without traffic violations, for a full year.

As such, the New Sarawak Tribune delved into what the public had in mind about the proposal.

To this end, members of the public see this as a positive incentive to promote responsible and safer driving practices, potentially leading to better compliance with traffic laws and improved road safety.

I agree with the proposal for discounts because it can ease the burden on the public while encouraging more considerate behaviour on the roads. It’s one of the government’s initiatives that will have a positive impact, as it encourages everyone to be cautious on the road. When you do good, you receive discounts.

I believe the suggestion of offering discounts for a year of safe driving is a fantastic way to encourage road safety. Not only does it reward responsible drivers, but it also serves as an excellent way for the government to promote adherence to traffic laws, ultimately creating safer roads.

The proposal to provide discounts for tax or licence renewals based on a clean driving record is a proactive approach to reducing road accidents and traffic violations. By offering this financial incentive, it encourages individuals to drive responsibly, which is a win-win for both road safety and conscientious drivers.

I fully endorse the idea of granting discounts for adhering to traffic laws for an entire year. This initiative not only fosters responsible driving habits but also eases the financial burden on law-abiding citizens. It’s a step in the right direction to create a safer and more rewarding road environment.

The proposal to provide discounts for tax or licence renewals to those with a clean driving record is a smart way to motivate good driving behaviour. It sends a clear message that following traffic laws is not only expected but also valued by society and the government.

This proposal for discounts based on a year of safe driving is a brilliant concept. It not only recognises and appreciates law-abiding drivers but also serves as positive reinforcement to create safer roads. By encouraging responsible behaviour through financial incentives, it can lead to a significant reduction in traffic violations and accidents.
