Woman gets RM10,000 fine for unregistered products

SIBU: The Sessions Court fined a woman RM10,000, in default, six months’ imprisonment on two counts of violating the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulatons 1984.
Judge Marutin Pagan fined 42-year-old Nurmala Zakiah Mohamad, RM5,000 in default three months’ jail on each charge.
According to the first charge, she was accused of selling 12 unregistered products at the ground floor of Star Mega Mall at about 11.15am on July 4 last year
The second charge stated that she was found to have possessed 16 boxes of the “Temulawak Day and Night Cream at the venue on the same day.
The court heard that at about 11.15am on July 4, 2022, pharmacy enforcement officer, Azizah Yang Redzuan from the Health Department and her team conducted an inspection at the shop selling cosmetics and beauty products.
Nurmala who was not represented by legal counsel opted to pay the fine.
