‘Wonder Women Run’ 2017 on 30 July

KUCHING: The first run featuring all women participants, the ‘Wonder Women Run’ 2017 will be held on 30 July at the Old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) starting at 6.30am.  

Organised by Sarawak federation of Women’s Institution (SWFI) in collaboration with Grit Event to commemorate SWFI’s 55 years anniversary, the run aims to collect funds to be channeled to three charitable bodies. 

The three bodies are the Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group, Pink Ribbon Sarawak Support Group and SWFI Care and Share funds.

 Receiving a courtesy call from SWFI was Minister of Welfare Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Datuk Fatimah Abdullah yesterday at Baitulmakmur.

Speaking at a press conference after the courtesy call,  Grit Event general manager Awang Saifeluddin the orgnaisers are targeting between 700 and 1,000 participants.

 Five hundred people have already registered for the run which is divided  into two categories 3.5km and 5.5km. 

Men can join as long as they are accompanied by their female counterparts.

Those interested can get the forms at Brooks @ Green Height Mall or at any of the roadshows for a fee of RM50.00 for both categories. 

Additionally, registrations can also be done online at https: www.gritevent.com/wwr2017.

Each runner will receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal after they have registered themselves.

Wife to the Head of State, Toh Puan Datuk Pattinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib will be present to grace the event.

Also present during the courtesy call was the organizing chairperson of Wonder Woman Run Salbiah Abdullah.
