Yayasan Sarawak and Petronas award student exchange scholarships

KUCHING: Thirty-five students participating in the Student Exchange Scholarship Programme, jointly sponsored by Yayasan Sarawak and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), recently received their offer letters.


The offer letter presentation ceremony, held at the Yayasan Sarawak Auditorium, Wisma Adenan recently, was officiated by Yayasan Sarawak director Mersal Abang Rosli.


Present at the event were Yayasan Sarawak acting deputy director (Education), Watson Chunggat Leonard Doo; Petronas executive (Employee Relations), Adeline Marcia Along Micheal; manager (Services and Employee Relations), Debra Edwin, representing Petronas; along with Yayasan Sarawak senior officers and parents of the students.


Petronas serves as a co-sponsor of the Yayasan Sarawak Student Exchange Programme, as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September of last year.


Following the ceremony, all the students, accompanied by a Yayasan Sarawak escort officer, proceeded to Kuching International Airport (KIA) and flew to Kuala Lumpur on the same day (March 17).


They will spend the night at the Yayasan Sarawak Kuala Lumpur Office Hostel before enrolling in their respective schools the following day.

This initiative involves sponsoring and sending outstanding students to Form 1 and Form 4 in full boarding schools/high-performance schools and GENIUS@Pintar Negara College in Peninsular Malaysia.


Selected schools in Sarawak are also included for students from Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.

Additionally, selected schools in Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan are designated for students from Sarawak under the sponsorship of Yayasan Sabah.
