KUCHING: Yayasan Sarawak has donated RM10,000 and 10 computers to SMK Balai Ringin, Serian.

The cheque was presented to its Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) president Jerard Patrick by Yayasan Sarawak director Mersal Abang Rosli, witnessed by Serian Education officer Chali Ungang @ Charlie Ungang on Feb 8.

In a statement from Yayasan Sarawak on Wednesday (Feb 23), 10 computers were also given as part of its YS-CAPS Programme to school principal Zakaria Dolmat on Feb 10.

Yayasan Sarawak-Computer Assistance Programme for Schools (YS-CAPS) is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative involving Yayasan Sarawak, Swinburne University and PC Image to provide computers, consulting and technical aid to remote schools in particular.

Within the scope of its computer assistance, the programme refurbishes computers from universities with high compute requirements to schools with lower compute requirements to ensure the computers’ longevity and usefulness while reducing e-waste.

The program also offers additional benefits to participating schools, as YS-CAPS provides warranty, support, and a refresh cycle for these computers while schools can benefit from lower pricing on IT purchases for educational purposes from PC Image.
