KUCHING: Most youths and parents welcome the federal government’s decision to revamp the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0.

Some felt that PLKN has the potential to shape the young generation’s character and prepare them to face a challenging world while improving their productivity.

At the same time, others felt that there has to be changes made towards the PLKN, especially the input of the programme.

New Sarawak Tribune spoke with some of the youths and parents to gauge their feedback.

JOYCE REMY, 32,

ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

“PLKN is a great way to prepare our generation to be more productive and capable, not only academically but also in terms of building sustainable skills with new modules. Through the process of training, they will be shaped in terms of mental and physical, ultimately benefitting our country’s future.“

NORMAH BUJANG, 48,

HOUSEWIFE

“PLKN can shape youths by giving them experience and beneficial training, such as improving their discipline, skills and social values. However, there are a few more ways to reach the same objective. That being said, this matter needs to be discussed further not only among the relevant parties but also through public discourse.”
