KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 case for the eighth consecutive day, with Bintulu now categorised as a green zone.

This means the number of positive cases in the state remains at 699.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas in a press conference informed that there are five cases that had recovered and discharged from hospitals — three from Bintulu Hospital and two from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

With this, the total number of recovered and discharged cases thus far remains at 674 or 96.4 percent.

“Six individuals are still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards — four in Bintulu, one in SGH, and one in Miri.

“Apart from that, three person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and one case is awaiting laboratory results,” he said during the Covid-19 press conference at the Old State Legislative Assembly Building here on Monday (September 7).

Meanwhile, the death toll in the state remains at 19 or 2.72 percent.

At the same time, Uggah also revealed that Bintulu is now categorised as a green zone after no new case was reported from the district for more than 14 days.

“This brings the number of districts with green zone status to 39, while Kuching remains a yellow zone,” he said.

Meanwhile, 47 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) have checked into hotels to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 12 hotels to 617, while 23,636 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

Currently, there is still one remaining active cluster in Sarawak, namely the Alam Cluster in Bintulu involving eight cases.
