SIBU: More active case detection (ACD) will be conducted at Kampung Hilir.
This was confirmed by the coordinator of the divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) Dr Annuar Rapaee today.
The assistant minister of Local Government and Housing said the ACD will be implemented on a large scale in Kampung Hilir following 25 Covid-19 positive cases detected in the area today.
“I have discussed the matter with Sibu divisional health officer Dr Teh Jo Hun and the ACD will most likely be done on Wednesday for the residents in the area once they find a strategic location for the purpose.
“The Sibu divisional health office is ready to conduct the ACD and close contact of cases from house to house in the village,” he explained.
Dr Annuar hoped that all residents in Kampung Hilir would cooperate and come forward for the swab test as this is the only way to stop the spread of the virus.
The assistant minister of Education, Science and Technology Research was concerned with how the Covid-19 cases in Kampung Hilir were mostly residents aged between 10 to 11 years old.
He added that there were also adults who were positive for Covid-19.
In this view, the Nangka assemblyman reminded parents in the area to keep an eye on their children and advised them not to leave their respective homes.
“Honestly, the situation in Kampung Hilir is not very safe and it is more worrying as houses are too close to each other.
“I am not saying that we will enforce movement restrictions or an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in the area but the residents must give their full cooperation with the ACD exercise being conducted.
“EMCOwould not be needed if there no new cases are reported from within this area during the next few days,” he said.
Earlier, he said the case in Kampung Hilir started from an infected individual at the workplace.
“The individual went home and infected the whole family. This shows that the virus has already spread,” he said.
Zone 10 of Kampung Datu which consists of Jalan Kampung Hilir and Kampung Datu Lama reported 25 cases and one case respectively out of the total 65 cases reported in Sibu on Monday.
