BINTULU: Some 126 registered fishermen from Kuala Nyalau, Kuala Tatau, Jepak, Sebauh and Similajau participated in the Fish-4-Life programme, held on 23-25 February at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Bintulu Campus (UPMBC), said a press release yesterday.

The programme was organised by PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd – Sarawak Gas in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia and Persatuan Nelayan Kawasan (PNK) Bintulu aimed at enhancing and uplifting lives of the fishermen community.

During the three-day programme, the participants were given theoretical and practical lessons on seabass breeding, which is the trending market in Sarawak.

“We hope this programme will increase the skills of the Persatuan Nelayan Kawasan whilst providing opportunities for the local fishermen to generate income other than having to go out to the sea during monsoon season,” said Head of Sarawak Gas Morris Mail during the launch of the programme by Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip last Saturday .
