KUCHING: Thirteen local artistes are set to perform at the upcoming Gawai Bazaar 2024 at Aeroville Mall here.

The inaugural event is set to take place from May 1 to 12 with various activities lined up.

Among the performers are Rickie Andrewson, Shilla J, Jackson Nyalung, Vernoica Natasha, Shazliana Baby, Melissa Thomas, Dee Vello and Sheldon Alfred.

The event is jointly organised by Biubiu Event and Kerasa in partnership with Aeroville Mall.

The strategic collaboration partners and sponsors for the event include Borneo MA Smart Vendors Sdn Bhd, Kaban Music Production, BiuBiu Beauty Shop, Personal Collection, Wondercat Craft, among others.

BiuBiu Enterprise operation manager Padila Jiahong said the Gawai Bazaar will feature over 27 stalls offering local products and services.

“There are also eight stalls designated for food and beverages with the concept of mini ‘rumah asap’ (smokehouse). Of course, there will be halal food and beverages available to cater to Muslim patrons,” she said.

She made these remarks during a press conference on Friday (April 19).

One of the objectives of the event is to promote the various products and services offered by tenants of Aeroville Mall.

The event also aims to foster a closer relationship between tenants and Aeroville Mall.

“We are hoping to have 30 stalls in total. So far, we are very grateful for the positive response and support from both the mall’s management as well as tenants.

“While we are unsure what the crowd turnout will be like, we are very optimistic and excited for this programme as it is a first of its kind in this area.”

Meanwhile, BMAS Entertainment Enterprise executive chairman Andenson Dato said Rickie Anderson will be re-releasing the recording of his father’s popular song titled “Bekikis Bulu Betis” on May 7.

He pointed out that the song was first released back in 2000 and it continues to gain popularity, including in Indonesia.

“The song has been given a fresh breath with orchestral music so that it can be uploaded on social media for public viewing. We are excited for this, and we will debut the new music video for the song too.”
