APM personnel hold up the 15-foot-long python that was found underneath a water tank of a house at Kampung Bidayuh.

MIRI: A homeowner had a late night surprise when he came across a 15-foot-long reticulated python curled underneath a water tank last night (Sept 21).

Fearing for his safety, the 33-year-old quickly alerted the Civil Defence Force (APM) Miri around 11.21 pm for assistance to capture the reptile.

A four-member team was desptched to the scene in Kampung Bidayuh, Taman Tunku.

The APM personnel spotted the python, about the size of an adult’s thigh, and captured it using snake catching tools.

The slithery creature was released back into its natural habitat far from the residential area.

The team ended the operation at midnight.
