KUCHING: A total of 15 participants joined the Sape Camp 2023 organised by Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS), which was held at the Waterfront Kuching Amphitheatre on Thursday evening (June 22).
According to YPS, the participants had the opportunity to get to know, learn and play the Sape music instrument.
“Fifteen participants, aged 18 to 30, from Sarawak, Sabah, and Peninsular Malaysia got the opportunity to learn and immerse themselves in the Sape instrument,” it said.
YPS also stated that the programme was meant to promote cultural interchange and understanding while instilling a feeling of pride and appreciation for cultural variety.
In addition, the projected music camp’s success will pave the way for future music industries that promote Sarawak’s culture.
“The objective of this programme is for us to connect with target audience, comprising youth of diverse races, by utilising Sape as a unifying element to foster their interest and careers in music and unity among all races,” it said.
