LUNDU: A road section near the Lundu Access Road had collapsed due to increased surface runoff caused by prolonged rainfall.

The Public Works Department (PWD) Kuching stated that an approximate 16m-long section of the road had collapsed.

The department reported that barriers and signages have been installed along with implementation of required traffic management plan to alert the public of the collapsed section. Additionally, a temporary road diversion will be provided.

“The works for the said road will begin immediately, taking three days to complete. Whereas, completion for the replacement works on the permanent culvert is expected to complete in two months,” said the statement.

PWD Kuching advised the public to use alternative routes via Jalan Stunggang Melayu Baru to access Lundu town.
